Theft of cooking oil from a pub in Bearsted

According to Kentlive, ten drums of cooking oil were stolen from the Butchers Block at the Bell in Bearsted. Kent Police were called to the scene at 4:16 am on Friday, May 29, following reports that two men had left the premises with the items before driving away towards Bearsted Green.

Officers located the suspects' vehicle within 20 minutes of the report. Following a short pursuit, the vehicle was stopped on the coastbound carriageway of the M20, where police recovered the stolen barrels. A 39-year-old man from Chatham and a 37-year-old man of no fixed address were arrested on suspicion of theft and remain in custody.

Kentlive reports that authorities are currently investigating whether this incident is linked to another theft from a pub in the local area. Police have requested that anyone with information, private CCTV, or dashcam footage contact the west Kent appeals line, quoting reference 46/85057/26.

Business owners are encouraged to ensure that all external storage areas are kept secure and monitored by surveillance systems.
