Thieves Remove Security Gate in Ashburn Liquor Store Burglary on Southwest Side

CHICAGO โ€” A commercial burglary investigation is underway in the Ashburn neighborhood on Chicago's Southwest Side after thieves dismantled a security barrier to break into a business early Wednesday morning.

According to the Chicago Police Department, the incident occurred at a liquor store located on the block of Kedzie Avenue. Investigators report that the perpetrators targeted the establishment by physically removing the exterior security gate before forcing entry into the property. It remains unclear at this time what items were stolen or the total value of the property damage.

No suspects are currently in custody as detectives from Area One continue to investigate the break-in. Local business owners in the area have expressed concern over the brazen nature of the theft, urging increased police patrols along the commercial corridor.
