Thieves Use Truck and Chain to Rip ATM from VyStar Credit Union in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A bold overnight heist took place at a VyStar Credit Union branch in Jacksonville, Florida, where thieves used heavy machinery to steal an automated teller machine (ATM).

According to police reports, the suspects arrived at the financial institution in a truck. They secured a heavy-duty chain around the ATM and attached the other end to the vehicle. The driver then accelerated, successfully ripping the machine from its concrete foundation and structural anchors. The thieves loaded the damaged ATM into their vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Jacksonville police are reviewing security camera footage from the credit union and neighboring businesses in an effort to identify the suspects and the getaway vehicle.
