Three Burglaries in Five Hours: Chicago Man Charged
A 35-year-old Chicago man has been charged with three separate burglaries that occurred within a span of five hours on Monday, September 18. The first burglary took place at a residence on the 4500 block of West Belmont Avenue around 2:00 AM. The suspect gained entry by breaking a window and stole a laptop and cash totaling $3,000.
The second burglary occurred at a business on the 3000 block of North Ashland Avenue around 3:30 AM. The suspect broke into the building through a rear door and took electronics valued at $4,500. The third burglary happened at a home on the 5000 block of North Clark Street around 4:45 AM. The suspect broke a window to enter and stole jewelry worth $2,700.
Police were able to apprehend the suspect after a brief chase. The man, who was not injured during the arrest, was taken into custody and charged with three counts of burglary. The stolen property, valued at over $10,000, has been recovered. Authorities are appealing to the public for any additional information that could aid in the investigation.
