ATM theft investigation in Harwich

According to an article published on 8 May 2024 by the Clactonandfrintongazette, three people have been charged in connection with a series of burglaries across Tendring, including the theft of an ATM in Harwich. The incident occurred at the Home Bargains store located at Harwich Gateway Retail Park, where a cash machine was torn from a wall using a JCB digger.

The Essex Police’s Serious and Organised Crime Unit has been investigating multiple home and business burglaries reported between January and April. Following the investigation, Shane Hadderton, Deividas Fiodorovas, and Marvin Usher have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, with additional charges relating to weapons and drug possession also filed against two of the suspects.

Police were initially called to the scene at approximately 2am following reports of the theft. Two vehicles believed to be connected to the incident were later discovered abandoned nearby. The suspects are currently appearing before the courts as legal proceedings continue.

Business owners are encouraged to review their perimeter security and consider installing bollards or reinforced barriers to prevent vehicle-based access to storefronts.
