Three Charged in Swansea Marijuana Dispensary Armed Robbery

SWANSEA, Massachusetts — Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with an armed heist in Swansea that resulted in the theft of $436,000 in cash destined for local marijuana dispensaries.

The robbery, which occurred in May 2024, targeted a cash courier vehicle transporting proceeds from regional cannabis businesses. According to court documents, the suspects, armed and wearing masks, intercepted the courier and forced them to surrender the bags containing the daily receipts. The suspects then fled the scene in a getaway vehicle, initiating a multi-agency law enforcement investigation.

Local Swansea police, working alongside state police and federal investigators, tracked the suspects through license plate readers, cell phone data, and surveillance footage. The coordinated efforts led to the arrest of all three individuals and the recovery of a portion of the stolen funds.

The defendants face multiple charges, including conspiracy, armed robbery, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. If convicted, they face significant federal prison sentences. Authorities emphasized that cash-heavy businesses like marijuana dispensaries remain high-priority targets, and law enforcement will continue to act aggressively to prosecute those who orchestrate armed robberies against them.
