Three shops burglarized in Bacup
According to an article published by Lancashirepost on 2 March 2026, a 31-year-old man has been sentenced to 24 weeks in prison following a series of commercial burglaries in Bacup. Samuel OโNeil pleaded guilty to three charges of burglary with intent to steal at Blackburn Magistratesโ Court on 26 February.
Lancashirepost reports that the incidents occurred in the early hours of 12 May last year. Two men targeted Ashtonโs Fish and Chips on Newchurch Road, where they used a hammer to smash a window and steal a till and a tips jar. The suspects subsequently targeted No.47 Skin Clinic and the Venice Star restaurant, both located on Market Street. An untidy search was conducted at the clinic, while cash, food, and drinks were taken from the restaurant.
The stolen items were later recovered from a BMW abandoned on Fernhill Road after the vehicle collided with a lamppost. Lancashire Police confirmed that OโNeil was arrested in August while serving a separate sentence. Authorities noted that these crimes caused significant distress and financial loss to the local business owners.
Ensure your business premises are equipped with high-quality security systems and reinforced entry points to deter unauthorized access.
