Three Suspects, Including a 13-Year-Old Boy, Arrested in Violent Loveland Home Invasion and Stab-Robbery
LOVELAND, Colorado — An intensive investigation by the Loveland Police Department has resulted in the arrests of three suspects, including a 13-year-old boy and a fugitive captured by a SWAT team, following a violent home invasion and robbery on East 16th Street earlier this month.
A Chaotic and Violent Robbery
The incident occurred on April 3, 2024, in the 1600 block of East 16th Street. Loveland Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a male and female screaming for help. Investigators determined that two suspects had forcibly broken into the residence, where they confronted and robbed the three occupants. During the struggle, the intruders discharged pepper spray at the victims and stabbed one occupant in the head. The injured victim was treated at a local hospital and later released.
Phased Arrests and SWAT Standoff
Police quickly identified the individuals involved and executed a series of targeted arrests over the subsequent weeks:
- Blake Vaughan (33): Vaughan was located on the afternoon of the crime at a Comfort Suites in Fort Collins. He was arrested on unrelated active warrants and faces new charges related to planning the violent home invasion.
- 13-Year-Old Juvenile: Detectives identified a 13-year-old male as one of the active participants. He was arrested in Loveland on April 5, 2024, and transported to Platte Valley Youth Services. He was later released under the supervision of an electronic ankle monitor.
- Albert Alvarez-Guzman (29): The final suspect was located on April 25, 2024, in Wellington, Colorado. When confronted by authorities, Alvarez-Guzman barricaded himself inside a vehicle. A Larimer County Sheriff's Office SWAT team and K9 unit were deployed to resolve the standoff, successfully taking him into custody.
Serious Felony Charges Pending
The suspects face severe charges, including first-degree burglary, crime of violence, and aggravated robbery. Loveland Police detectives thanked regional partners, including the Fort Collins Police Services and Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, for their collaboration in apprehending the suspects.
