Tobacco robbery leads to arrests on the M6 near Birmingham

Police intercept vehicle following Birmingham shop robbery

According to an article published on 12 February 2026 by Coventrytelegraph, police have arrested two individuals following a robbery at a shop in Birmingham. Officers from Warwickshire Police’s Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) tracked a Jaguar XF that had allegedly fled the scene of a cigarette robbery.

Coventrytelegraph reports that the police followed the vehicle onto the M6 and eventually performed a tactical maneuver to 'box in' the car at the Junction One MOTO services in Rugby. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered a large quantity of Amber Leaf tobacco from the boot.
