Toyota Truck Reverses into ATM in Unsuccessful Ram-Raid at Wellingborough Co-op

A Wellingborough Co-op store was the target of an unsuccessful ram-raid in the early hours of Saturday, August 30, 2025. The offenders used a Toyota pickup truck to reverse at speed into the store's external automated teller machine (ATM) in a bid to dislodge the cash dispenser.

Despite causing significant structural damage to the front facade of the supermarket and the ATM casing itself, the attackers failed to gain access to the secure vault holding the money. Northamptonshire Police confirmed that the suspects were forced to flee the scene empty-handed, leaving behind a trail of debris.

Emergency services arrived shortly after the store's security alarm was triggered. A cordon was put in place around the damaged storefront, restricting access for customer safety while structural engineers assessed the integrity of the building. The Co-op store was forced to remain temporarily closed to allow for cleanup operations and immediate repairs.

Detectives are actively investigating the incident and are searching for the Toyota truck used in the raid, which is believed to have sustained substantial rear-end damage. Police are calling on anyone who may have witnessed the incident, noticed a damaged Toyota vehicle in the area, or captured footage of the escape to contact the police force immediately.
