Trail of Blood Leads Eugene Police to Valley River Center Jewelry Theft Suspect

EUGENE, Oregon — A burglary investigation at the Valley River Center mall took an unusual turn when Eugene police officers successfully tracked down a suspect by following a physical trail of blood leading away from the damaged storefront.

Officers responded to an early morning alarm at a jewelry store inside the commercial complex. Upon arrival, they discovered a shattered glass display case and forced entry points. In the process of breaking the glass, the suspect sustained cuts, leaving behind a highly visible trail of blood. Following the trail through the mall exit and into a nearby outdoor area, officers quickly located the suspect, who was carrying stolen jewelry items. The individual was treated for minor injuries and arrested on multiple charges, including burglary and criminal mischief.
