Two Arrested After 'Creeper Style Burglary' and Police Collision in Newtownabbey
Two men have been arrested following a "creeper style burglary" in Newtownabbey that led to a collision involving a police vehicle on Monday, 9th March 2026.
The incident began when police received reports of a burglary in progress at a residential property in the Newtownabbey area. Creeper burglaries typically involve thieves entering a home, often while the occupants are present or sleeping, to steal car keys and subsequently take the vehicle parked outside. In this instance, the suspects managed to flee the property in a stolen vehicle.

Following the collision, two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were apprehended by officers at the scene. They were arrested on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving, and several other motoring offenses. Both suspects remain in custody assisting police with their inquiries.
Detective Inspector in charge of the case praised the swift response of the officers involved, stating: "Creeper burglaries are highly intrusive and distressing for victims. Our officers acted quickly to intercept the suspects, and we are grateful that no one was seriously hurt during the subsequent collision."
