Two arrested following burglaries and vehicle thefts in Newport

Police pursuit leads to arrests in Newport burglary case

According to an article published on 26 March 2025 by Walesonline, two men have been sentenced following a series of burglaries and vehicle thefts in Newport. Teejay Thomas, 34, and Michael Truman, 35, were apprehended by police after a pursuit involving a stolen white Ford Transit.

Walesonline reports that the pair burgled two properties and attempted a third on 14 December. During the incident at White Avenue, the defendants entered a property to steal keys, which they then used to take a Ford Transit from the driveway. Police eventually brought the suspects to a halt using a stinger device. Both men were located hiding in nearby vegetation and subsequently arrested.

The court heard that the defendants had also targeted a property on Pentre Tai Road, where they stole personal items. Additionally, Truman was linked to the theft of a Volkswagen Caravelle in October, while Thomas was connected to an attempted burglary in Caerphilly. Both men pleaded guilty to their respective charges at Cardiff Crown Court. Thomas and Truman have extensive criminal records, including numerous prior convictions for burglary and theft.
