Two Cheyenne Residents Charged After $7,000 Storage Heist
CHEYENNE, Wyoming โ Two Cheyenne men have been arrested and formally charged following a burglary at a local self-storage facility, where they allegedly stole items valued at approximately $7,000. The theft, which targeted tools and personal recreational equipment, was solved following a joint investigation by Laramie County deputies and city police.
Storage Lockers Targeted in Heist
The burglary occurred at a commercial storage complex where the suspects cut lock mechanisms on multiple storage units. The owner of the targeted unit reported the loss after arriving to find their padlocks missing and the unit cleared of high-value tools, camping gear, and electronics. The total estimated value of the stolen goods exceeded $7,000.
Using security logs and video footage from the storage facility, investigators traced a vehicle associated with the suspects. A search warrant executed at a Cheyenne residence successfully recovered a significant portion of the stolen property, which was later returned to the rightful owner.
Suspects Face Grand Larceny Charges
The two suspects have been charged with felony burglary and grand larceny due to the high value of the stolen property. Both individuals were booked into Laramie County Detention Center. Authorities advise residents who use storage facilities to check their units regularly and use high-security disc locks, which are more resistant to cutting tools.
