Two churches burgled in Newtownhamilton, County Armagh

Burglaries reported at two Newtownhamilton churches

According to Belfastlive, two churches in the village of Newtownhamilton, County Armagh, were burgled on December 25, 2024. Police received reports that entry was gained to buildings located on Dundalk Street and Castleblayney Street sometime between 3:00 pm on Christmas Day and 9:00 am on December 26.

Belfastlive reports that damage was caused to both properties during the incidents. A number of items were taken from the premises, including electronic speakers. The PSNI has launched an appeal for information regarding suspicious activity in the vicinity of these locations during the specified timeframe. Authorities are requesting that anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage contact the police quoting reference 801 – 27/12/2025.

In response to the burglaries, the Slieve Gullion Neighbourhood Policing Team has increased patrols in the area. Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior observed near places of worship to the authorities.

Ensure that all valuable equipment is securely stored and that alarm systems are fully operational to deter unauthorized access.
