Two New Orleans Garden Shops Targeted in Bonsai Thefts

Two garden shops in the New Orleans area were targeted by a suspected bonsai tree thief in separate incidents. The first burglary occurred at the Garden of Eden Nursery on Magazine Street, where the thief broke in through a window and stole three bonsai trees valued at $5,000 each. The second incident took place at the Green Thumb Nursery on Carrollton Avenue, where the thief made off with two bonsai trees, also valued at $5,000 each. The total value of the stolen bonsai trees is estimated to be $25,000.

The burglaries occurred on the same night, with the first incident reported around 10:30 PM and the second around 11:30 PM. The thief was able to escape without being apprehended. No injuries were reported in either incident. Police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
