Two Wirral Men Named and Charged After Violent Liverpool Assault and Robbery
Two men from Wirral have been charged and named by police following a serious assault and robbery in Liverpool city centre. The incident, which occurred during the late evening hours, left a victim injured and resulted in the theft of personal belongings.
Merseyside Police launched an appeal immediately after the incident, seeking witnesses who may have been in the busy city centre area. Following an intense investigation and reviews of city-centre surveillance cameras, officers arrested two male suspects residing in the Wirral peninsula.
The suspects, identified as 22-year-old James Vance and 24-year-old Michael Davies, have both been charged with robbery and Section 18 assault (causing grievous bodily harm with intent). The victim received medical treatment at a local hospital for non-life-threatening but serious injuries sustained during the confrontation.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Jones praised the public for their assistance: "The response from the community following our initial appeal was crucial. We will not tolerate violence on the streets of Liverpool, and we are working hard to ensure the city centre remains a safe place for residents and visitors alike. These charges demonstrate our commitment to tackling violent crime."
Both men have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear before Liverpool Magistrates' Court. Police continue to appeal for any additional witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage of the incident to contact them.
