Two Women Arrested for Los Angeles Home Burglaries Using Fake Cleaning App Profiles

LOS ANGELES, CA — Two women have been arrested in connection with a series of residential burglaries in Los Angeles after allegedly creating fake profiles on a popular cleaning service application to gain access to victims' homes. The Los Angeles Police Department warned that the scheme exploited the trust of homeowners hiring domestic help online.

According to LAPD detectives, the suspects used false credentials and profiles to secure bookings through the app. Once inside the residences under the guise of providing cleaning services, they allegedly searched the homes for high-value items, including jewelry, cash, and electronics. The thefts were often not discovered until after the suspects had completed their scheduled service and left the property.

Following a detailed investigation involving digital forensics and victim statements, police identified and apprehended the two suspects. The LAPD is advising residents to perform independent background checks, read reviews thoroughly, and ensure valuable items are secured when allowing third-party service providers into their homes.
