Victim Chases Suspects After Ride-On Lawn Mower Theft Escalates To Armed Robbery In Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. — A local resident attempted to pursue thieves after a ride-on lawn mower was stolen from their yard, escalating the theft into an armed robbery early Sunday morning, authorities said.

The incident began around midnight on June 14, 2026, when the victim noticed suspects removing the valuable lawn care equipment from their property. Acting quickly, the homeowner decided to chase the suspects as they attempted to make their getaway with the mower loaded onto a vehicle or trailer.

During the pursuit, the situation escalated dramatically when one of the suspects produced a firearm and threatened the victim, warning them to stop. Fearing for their safety, the victim ceased the chase and immediately contacted law enforcement. Deputies from the Victorville Police Station responded to the area and searched for the suspects, but they remain at large.
