Warehouse targeted by protesters in Patchway
According to an article published on 7 August 2024 by Bristolpost, a warehouse facility in Patchway was targeted by a group of protesters during the early hours of Tuesday, 6 August. Bristolpost reports that the group gained entry to the Elbit Systems UK Horizon facility off Bolingbroke Way shortly before 4am.
The individuals, some dressed in red boiler suits, were armed with sledgehammers, axes, and whips. According to Bristolpost, the group damaged equipment and shelving units within the building and sprayed red paint on the walls. Avon and Somerset Police stated that both employees and police officers sustained injuries during the incident. One officer was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police have seized several weapons from the scene and confirmed that six people have been arrested in connection with the event. Officers are continuing to search for other individuals who reportedly fled the area. Superintendent Paul Wigginton described the incident as a disturbing display of violence. Authorities are currently conducting a forensic analysis of the vehicle used to breach the site and reviewing local CCTV footage to identify further suspects.
