West Hollywood Pot Shop Owned by Bill Maher, Woody Harrelson Ransacked

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — High-profile cannabis dispensary The Woods, co-owned by actor Woody Harrelson and comedian Bill Maher, was hit by burglars in an early morning smash-and-grab style break-in, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, five suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts and face coverings smashed the glass front door of the boutique dispensary located at 8271 Santa Monica Boulevard. Once inside, they quickly grabbed cannabis products and retail items, loading them into large bags.

Celebrity-Owned Boutique Targeted

The Woods, known for its premium organic cannabis products and scenic garden consumption lounge, has become a popular tourist and local destination since opening in West Hollywood. However, its high visibility has also attracted unwanted attention, marking the second time in six months that the business has faced a burglary.

The thieves made off with an estimated $2,500 to $3,000 in retail inventory within a matter of minutes. The suspects fled the scene in a getaway vehicle before sheriff's deputies could arrive at the location.

Connected to Wider Theft Ring?

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau are currently investigating the case. They are looking into possible links between this heist and an attempted burglary at ERBA Markets in West Los Angeles, which occurred just two nights prior. In that incident, a security guard confronted the suspects and fired warning shots, causing them to flee empty-handed.

The recurring nature of these smash-and-grab crimes has intensified the debate over retail security and law enforcement presence in West Hollywood, with local business owners urging stronger penalties and more frequent night patrols to deter organized crews.
