Wichita Man Sentenced to Over Two Decades in Prison for East Wichita Bank Robbery

WICHITA, Kansas — A legal process spanning over a year has concluded with a Wichita man being sentenced to more than two decades in federal prison for his role in a bank robbery in the eastern part of the city.

The incident dates back to December 2024, when a robbery was reported at a bank in east Wichita. The suspect was arrested shortly after the heist following a coordinated response by the Wichita Police Department and federal law enforcement agencies. No injuries were reported during the robbery, but the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash before being intercepted by police.

Following a conviction in court, the sentencing phase concluded in May 2026. A federal judge sentenced the man to over twenty years in prison, citing the severity of the offense, the threat to public safety, and his prior criminal history. Authorities expressed satisfaction with the sentence, stating it reflects the serious nature of armed robberies and serves as a deterrent to others.
