Wily 'Cat-Flap' Burglar Targets and Outsmarts Gosport Homeowner

GOSPORT — A Gosport resident has warned the community to review their home security after falling victim to a highly elusive “cat-flap burglar” who successfully breached her home.

The incident involved a thief who utilized the home’s cat-flap to reach inside, access keys left within range, or manipulate the door lock mechanism to gain complete entry. The victim only realized what had transpired the following morning when she discovered her personal items, including handbags and car keys, were missing from the hallway.

Hampshire Police have urged homeowners to ensure that keys, wallets, and other high-value items are kept well away from doors and window openings, including pet doors. The investigation is ongoing as police review security footage from surrounding properties.
