Suspect identified in Bedford County wire theft
According to an article published by Wtaj on 18 July 2025, Pennsylvania State Police have identified a suspect in the theft of 2,000 feet of coaxial wire from a cell phone tower site in Bedford County. The incident occurred in the area of Mountain Road in King Township between 11 p.m. on July 3 and 3 a.m. on July 4.
Wtaj reports that the suspect has been identified as 43-year-old Christopher Webb of Great Cacapon, West Virginia. The stolen wires were owned by Verizon and AT&T, while the tower is owned by SBA Communications. State police noted that the same suspect and vehicle were involved in a similar wire theft from a cell tower in Allegheny Township, Blair County, on July 7. An arrest warrant for the suspect is forthcoming. Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding these incidents to contact PSP Bedford.
Business owners should ensure that remote sites are secured with adequate lighting, perimeter fencing, and monitored surveillance systems to deter unauthorized access.
