Woman Apprehended Following Attempted Bank Robbery on Nine Mile Road in Pensacola
An attempted bank heist on Nine Mile Road in Pensacola ended in failure and an arrest after bank staff quickly alerted law enforcement, according to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office. A local woman is currently in custody, facing serious federal and state robbery charges.
Deputies responded to the bank branch late in the afternoon following a silent alarm activation. According to witnesses, the suspect entered the bank lobby, approached a teller station, and presented a note demanding cash. The note claimed the suspect was armed, though no weapon was visibly displayed during the transaction.
Before the teller could comply with the demands, the suspect apparently panicked and fled the building empty-handed. Responding deputies, aided by descriptions provided by bank staff and license plate recognition cameras in the vicinity, managed to intercept the suspect's vehicle a short distance away from the scene.
The woman was taken into custody without incident and was subsequently booked into the Escambia County Jail. She has been charged with attempted bank robbery and making threats of violence. Investigators confirmed that no cash was taken, and no injuries were reported among bank employees or customers during the incident.
