Woman forces home invasion suspect out of Rogers Park home on West Lunt Avenue

CHICAGO — A woman successfully defended her home on West Lunt Avenue in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood, forcing an intruder to flee the property, Chicago police reported.

According to authorities, the suspect attempted to force entry into the home. Upon realizing someone was entering, the female resident confronted the suspect directly. Her quick thinking and assertive actions startled the intruder, forcing him to retreat empty-handed and flee down West Lunt Avenue before officers arrived at the scene.

Police Search for Suspect

Chicago police are conducting a search in the Rogers Park area for the suspect, who is described as a male in his late 20s or early 30s. Police have increased patrols in the neighborhood and are asking residents along West Lunt Avenue to check their doorbell and security cameras for any footage captured around the time of the incident.

Defending Your Home and Safety Tips

Law enforcement officials praise the resident's courage but remind citizens that safety should always be the top priority during a break-in. If possible, experts advise locking oneself in a secure room and immediately calling 911. However, securing entry points with robust locks, security screen doors, and alarm systems remains the best way to prevent encounters altogether.
