Youth Arrested Following Attempted Armed Robbery in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC — A juvenile is in custody after North Charleston Police responded to an attempted armed robbery. The incident, which occurred in a residential area, ended without any injuries, but has sparked concern among local residents regarding youth-related crime in the community.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call reporting that a suspect had brandished a weapon and demanded valuables from a victim. The victim was able to flee to safety and immediately call 911, providing dispatchers with a detailed description of the suspect. Officers patrolling the area located a youth matching the description a short distance from the scene.

After a brief foot pursuit, the juvenile was detained. Officers recovered a weapon at the scene of the arrest. The suspect has been charged with attempted armed robbery, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and resisting arrest. Due to the suspect's age, their identity is being withheld, and the case has been referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
