Tips to Prevent Home Invasions

While home invasions can be frightening, there are effective ways to fortify your home and protect your family from armed intruders:

  • Reinforce Entry Points: Ensure all exterior doors are made of solid wood or metal and are fitted with heavy-duty deadbolts. Don't forget to secure sliding glass doors and ground-floor windows.
  • Verify Visitors: Never open your door to individuals you do not know or expect. Use a peephole or a smart doorbell camera to safely identify visitors before granting them access.
  • Install a Monitored Alarm System: A visible security system can deter potential criminals. Ensure your system includes an audible alarm and sensors on all primary entryways.
  • Report Suspicious Activity: If you observe unusual behavior or unfamiliar vehicles lingering in your neighborhood, do not hesitate to contact local law enforcement.
