Home Security Tips
This incident serves as a reminder to remain vigilant about home security, especially when stepping out, even for short periods. Consider the following prevention tips:
- Double-Check All Locks: Since there was no forced entry, it is crucial to ensure that all doors and windows are securely locked before leaving your home, regardless of how quickly you plan to return.
- Secure Valuables: Store cash, expensive jewellery, and other high-value items in a hidden, heavy-duty safe rather than in easily accessible areas like bedrooms.
- Use Timers for Lights: If you are away during the late afternoon or evening, use timers to turn on interior lights, creating the illusion that someone is home.
- Install a Security System: Equip your home with an alarm system and exterior security cameras. Ensure cameras cover all entry points and the driveway.
