Man Shot During Struggle with Five Armed Home Invaders in Lytton Park

A brazen and violent home invasion in Toronto's upscale Lytton Park neighbourhood has left a local resident hospitalized with a gunshot wound following a struggle with multiple intruders.

Early Morning Break-In on Glencairn Avenue

The alarming incident took place in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 11. Toronto Police Service officers were dispatched to a residential property located on Glencairn Avenue, situated near the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and Avenue Road, at approximately 2:15 a.m.

Emergency crews responded to frantic 911 calls reporting that a shooting had just occurred inside the home.

According to the preliminary police investigation, a group of five masked suspects coordinated a forced entry into the residence while the occupants were inside.

Resident Shot During Struggle

Once the intruders breached the home, they were confronted by at least one of the residents. A physical struggle quickly ensued between the resident and the five masked suspects.

During the chaotic altercation, a firearm was discharged, and one male resident was shot in the leg.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene provided immediate emergency medical care to the victim. The injured man was subsequently transported from the residence to a local trauma centre. Medical officials have listed his condition as serious, but his injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

Suspects Flee Before Police Arrival

Following the shooting, the five suspects immediately abandoned the home invasion and fled the scene before police could arrive to establish a perimeter.

At this early stage in the investigation, Toronto Police have not publicly released any detailed descriptions of the suspects, nor have they provided information regarding a potential getaway vehicle used in the crime.

Investigators are currently canvassing the Glencairn Avenue area, seeking any witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity or vehicles in the neighbourhood leading up to or immediately following the 2:15 a.m. shooting.

Police are strongly urging all residents in the immediate vicinity to review their home security camera systems, doorbell cameras, and dashcams for any potential evidence. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Toronto Police Service directly or to submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
