Intruder Flees After Being Disturbed by Occupant During County Laois Break-In

An occupant of a house in County Laois had a frightening experience after disturbing an intruder who had gained access to their property. The suspect fled the scene immediately after being discovered, and Gardaí have launched a full investigation into the incident.

The break-in occurred on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The homeowner reportedly heard suspicious noises within the dwelling and, upon investigating, confronted an unidentified individual. The intruder quickly made an exit from the property, and it is believed nothing was taken during the brief encounter.

Gardaí arrived shortly after the alarm was raised and conducted a search of the immediate area. House-to-house inquiries are currently being carried out, and local CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the suspect. Security experts advise homeowners never to directly confront intruders if possible, but rather to make noise, turn on lights, and immediately call emergency services from a safe location.

Anyone who observed suspicious individuals or vehicles in the area on the afternoon or evening of April 22 is asked to contact the local Garda station to help assist with the active investigation.
