Gardaí have launched an appeal for information following a burglary in County Laois on February 3, 2026, during which a house was extensively ransacked and a car was stolen from the property.

The incident has caused significant concern among local residents. Intruders forced entry into the home while it was unoccupied, thoroughly searching and ransacking the interior before locating the keys to the homeowner's vehicle. The suspects then fled the scene in the stolen car, which was parked outside.

Investigation and Community Warning

Garda officers have carried out a technical examination at the scene in an effort to secure forensic evidence. Patrols in the area have also been increased in response to the break-in. Local authorities are reviewing security footage from neighboring properties and main arterial routes to locate the stolen vehicle and identify those responsible.

Homeowners are also advised to store car keys securely away from doors and windows to prevent key fishing and opportunist thefts.
