Armed Burglary and Home Invasion in Ruskin, Florida

On the night of October 1, 2023, an armed suspect broke into a home in the 2600 block of Ruskin, Florida. The suspect, armed with a knife, entered the residence through a rear window. The homeowner, upon hearing the intrusion, confronted the suspect, leading to a struggle. During the altercation, the homeowner shot the suspect, who then fled the scene on foot.

The suspect was later apprehended by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) after a brief chase. The stolen items, including jewelry and electronics, were valued at approximately $5,000. The suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The homeowner was not injured. The HCSO is appealing for any information that could assist in their ongoing investigation.
