Armed Robbers Target Birkenhead Shop, Stealing Cash Register

BIRKENHEAD, MERSEYSIDE — Detectives are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a shop in Birkenhead, where a group of armed men succeeded in stealing a cash register before fleeing the scene.

The incident, which took place in the town of Birkenhead on or before July 16, 2025, involved several males entering a commercial premises. The suspects, reportedly carrying weapons, confronted staff and forcibly removed the till from the shop counter.

Officers have launched an investigation into the robbery, conducting local enquiries, reviewing CCTV footage from nearby businesses, and seeking potential witnesses. No injuries were reported during the targeted raid, though staff members were left shaken by the encounter.

Merseyside Police have urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident, noticed suspicious activity in the vicinity, or captured dashcam or doorbell footage at the time to contact them immediately. Anonymous tips can also be shared with the independent charity Crimestoppers.
