Attempted Robbery and Shooting in Chesapeake Leads to Arrest

On the night of May 13, 2023, an attempted robbery occurred at a convenience store located at 4000 South Military Highway in Chesapeake, Virginia. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old John Doe, entered the store and demanded cash from the register. The employee, who was working alone, was shot in the leg during the altercation. The suspect fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended by the Chesapeake Police Department (CPD).

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. The stolen amount was approximately $500 in cash.
