Bridgeport Businesses Targeted in Overnight Smash-and-Grabs

Several small businesses in Bridgeport were targeted in a series of overnight smash-and-grab incidents, with thieves making off with thousands of dollars in merchandise. The incidents occurred between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. on the night of July 20, 2023, at locations along the 2000 block of West 26th Street. The thieves used a vehicle to smash through the storefronts, stealing a variety of items including electronics, jewelry, and clothing. The estimated value of the stolen merchandise is around $20,000.

Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the incidents. The thieves escaped in a dark-colored sedan, which was last seen heading eastbound on West 26th Street.
