Burglar Forced Way Into Redcar Home, Leaving Vulnerable Long-Time Friend with Head Injury

A Redcar resident has spoken of his feelings of betrayal and ongoing anxiety after a woman he had considered a close friend for two decades forced her way into his home, leaving him injured on the floor and preventing him from calling for emergency help.

The details of the shocking home invasion were heard at Teesside Crown Court, where 43-year-old Marianne Allinson, of no fixed address, was prosecuted for her actions. The incident occurred on the evening of July 4, 2024, when Allinson, accompanied by two other females, arrived at the victim's property in Redcar.

The court heard that Allinson began aggressively banging on the front door. When the victimโ€”described as a vulnerable individual who had known Allinson as a friend for over 20 yearsโ€”opened the door, she immediately stormed her way past him. The force of her entry caused the man to lose his balance and fall heavily to the floor, sustaining a head injury in the process.

Once inside, Allinson acted aggressively and actively blocked the injured victim from reaching his phone to call the police. The ordeal left the homeowner traumatised inside his own home. In a victim impact statement read to the court, the man detailed the severe anxiety he has suffered since the break-in, stating that his sense of safety has been shattered and that he no longer considers Allinson a friend.

Allinson was arrested by police officers and subsequently charged. The court case, which concluded in early January 2025, highlighted the vulnerability of the victim and the breach of trust involved in the offense. Sentencing details reflected the gravity of forcing entry into a residential home and causing injury to an occupant under such circumstances.
