Burglars Break Into Chicago Businesses Using Sledgehammers and Crowbars

On January 21, 2026, burglars targeted multiple businesses in Chicago, Illinois, using sledgehammers and crowbars to gain entry. The first incident occurred at a local convenience store on the 1200 block of South State Street, where the thieves managed to steal $5,000 in cash and merchandise valued at $3,000. The second incident took place at a nearby electronics store on the 1300 block of South State Street, where the thieves stole electronics worth $10,000. The total value of stolen items from both locations is estimated to be $18,000.

The burglars escaped the scene before police arrived. No injuries were reported in either incident.
