Burglary and Attempted Sexual Assault in Pittsburgh

On Sunday, July 23, 2023, a burglary and attempted sexual assault occurred at a residence in the 200 block of North Highland Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The suspect entered the home through an unlocked door and stole a wallet containing $1,500 in cash and a pair of AirPods. The victim, a 21-year-old woman, was home at the time of the incident and was assaulted.

Police used an AirTag, which was inside the stolen wallet, to track the suspect's movements. The AirTag led investigators to the suspect's residence, where they found the stolen items. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old John Doe, was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and attempted sexual assault. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Police have appealed to the public for any additional information that could aid in the investigation.
