Burglary and Theft in Selby, North Yorkshire, on 14 February 2025

On 14 February 2025, a burglary and theft occurred at a residential property on Church Lane, Selby, North Yorkshire. The incident was part of Operation Tornado, a coordinated effort by North Yorkshire Police to tackle burglary and theft in the York and Selby areas. The suspects gained entry to the property by forcing a window and made off with a substantial amount of cash and jewelry, valued at approximately £20,000. The suspects escaped the scene in a dark-colored vehicle, which was later found abandoned in a nearby field. The vehicle was a silver Ford Fiesta, which was reported stolen from a nearby town a few days prior to the incident.

North Yorkshire Police have made one arrest in connection with the burglary. A 25-year-old man from Selby was apprehended and is currently in custody. The police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have seen the vehicle or the suspects in the area around the time of the burglary. The police have also confirmed that no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
