Burglary at a filling station in Forkhill

According to an article published on 13 January 2024 by Belfastlive, police are appealing for information following a burglary at a filling station on the Carrickasticken Road in Forkhill. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, 12 January, between 1.45am and 3.30am.

Belfastlive reports that three men wearing face masks and hoods broke into a kiosk on the forecourt. The suspects are believed to have used a grinder to access a safe, from which a significant amount of cash was stolen. Sergeant Scott McBride has requested that anyone with relevant information, mobile phone footage, CCTV, or dash-cam recordings contact the police quoting reference 240 12/01/24.

Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Larkin has condemned the act, describing it as an appalling instance of criminal theft and damage. Information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers or via the PSNI non-emergency reporting form.

Business owners are encouraged to ensure that high-value assets and cash are stored in secure, reinforced safes and that alarm systems are regularly tested.
