Deputy Murdered, Man Stabbed in Separate Incidents During Attempted Robberies in Long Beach

In the early morning hours of March 28, 2006, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Maria Cecilia Rosa was tragically murdered during an attempted robbery in Long Beach. The incident occurred in the 200 block of East 28th Street. Deputy Rosa was fatally shot during the altercation. The suspects, who were armed with a handgun, fled the scene and remain at large. The motive behind the robbery is unclear, but it is believed that the suspects were targeting Deputy Rosa's personal vehicle.

In a separate incident on the same day, a man was stabbed during an attempted robbery in Long Beach. The victim was approached by muggers in the 200 block of East 28th Street, where he was stabbed multiple times. The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspects in this case also fled the scene and have not been apprehended. Police are appealing for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects involved in both incidents.
