E-Bike Burglars Target Properties in Dewsbury and Ravensthorpe, Stealing Mercedes, Keys, and Jewellery
DEWSBURY, WEST YORKSHIRE โ Detectives in Kirklees are investigating a series of targeted residential burglaries in Dewsbury and Ravensthorpe after thieves riding electric bikes made off with a premium Mercedes-Benz vehicle, house keys, and a collection of jewellery.
The incidents, which occurred in quick succession, involved suspects riding e-bikes who targeted residential properties. Police believe the suspects utilized the high-speed and quiet nature of electric bikes to scout locations and make rapid escapes. During the break-ins, the perpetrators gained entry to the homes, searching for high-value items. Among the stolen goods were keys, jewellery, and the keys to a Mercedes-Benz, which was subsequently driven away from the scene.
West Yorkshire Police have increased patrols in the Dewsbury and Ravensthorpe areas to reassure local residents and deter further criminal activity. Officers are reviewing local CCTV footage and asking residents to check their domestic security systems for any footage of individuals on e-bikes acting suspiciously around the dates of the incidents.
A police representative stated: "This is a serious series of offences where homeowners have had their privacy violated and valuable possessions stolen. We are following several lines of enquiry to track down the suspects and the stolen property."
Members of the public who have any information, or who may have been offered jewellery or a vehicle matching the description under suspicious circumstances, are urged to contact West Yorkshire Police on 101 or via the online portal, quoting the occurrence reference numbers. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crimestoppers.
