Failed Smash-and-Grab at Detroit Check Cashing Business

Detroit police are investigating a failed smash-and-grab attempt at a check cashing business on the 15000 block of Schaefer Highway on the morning of October 1, 2023. The thieves attempted to steal a safe but left it behind after failing to remove it from the premises. The safe, valued at $10,000, was left intact and undamaged. No arrests have been made, and the suspects remain at large.

According to police, the suspects arrived at the scene in a dark-colored SUV and used a sledgehammer to break through the front door of the business. The suspects were unable to remove the safe and fled the scene empty-handed. No injuries were reported in the incident. Police are appealing for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects.
