Large-Scale Theft of £150,000 E-Bikes from Aberystwyth Industrial Estate Sparks Major Police Investigation

Dyfed-Powys Police have charged four men following a major commercial burglary at the Glan Yr Afon Industrial Estate in Llanbadarn Fawr, near Aberystwyth, where e-bikes valued at more than £150,000 were stolen. The targeted heist occurred in the late evening of Saturday, April 12, 2025, triggering a multi-force police operation to track the suspects.

The E-Bike Raid

Witnesses reported seeing a group of four men wearing balaclavas executing a swift break-in at a commercial unit on the industrial estate at around 9:30 PM on April 12. The suspects systematically loaded a large consignment of high-value electric bicycles into a light silver Luton van before driving away from the area. The total value of the stolen e-bikes is estimated to exceed £150,000, representing a significant loss for the local business.

Police Response and Arrests

Following the raid, Dyfed-Powys Police immediately launched a comprehensive investigation, issuing public appeals for CCTV, Ring doorbell, and dashcam footage from anyone traveling along the A487 or near Llanbadarn Fawr around the time of the incident. The investigation quickly pointed toward suspects based in the West Midlands. Within a week of the burglary, police arrested four men from the Birmingham area: Gavin Johnson (39), Keith Johnson (32), Gareth Corbett (36), and Wayne Dreisey (40). A fifth suspect, a 33-year-old man, was also arrested on suspicion of burglary and released on bail pending further inquiries.

Court Appearances

The four principal suspects appeared before Swansea Magistrates' Court on April 19, 2025, where they were officially charged with conspiracy to commit burglary. All four were remanded in custody pending their next appearance at Swansea Crown Court. Police have thanked the public for their assistance in providing critical information and continue to urge anyone with further details or footage of the silver Luton van to come forward to assist with the ongoing prosecution.
