Man Accused of Burglary and Sexual Battery in Port Charlotte

A man is accused of breaking into a Port Charlotte home while the residents were sleeping. The incident occurred on the 1200 block of 28th Avenue in Port Charlotte, Florida. The suspect is alleged to have entered the residence through an unlocked window, stealing approximately $2,000 worth of items, including jewelry and electronics.

According to reports, the man is also accused of sexually assaulting a sleeping woman inside the home. The victim was not injured. The suspect, identified as a registered sex offender, escaped the scene before police arrived. The Port Charlotte Police Department is appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
