Man Arrested After Fabens Home Robbery, Shooting, and Assault

A man was arrested in Fabens, Texas, following a home invasion that resulted in a shooting and assault, according to deputies. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at a residence on the 100 block of West Avenue D. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Jose Guadalupe Gutierrez, forced his way into the home and assaulted a 32-year-old man, who was a resident of the house. Gutierrez then shot the victim in the leg and stole a 55-inch Samsung Smart TV, valued at $600, and a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado valued at $35,000.

Gutierrez fled the scene in the stolen vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and launched an investigation. A manhunt ensued, leading to the arrest of Gutierrez later that day. The stolen vehicle was recovered, but the TV remains missing. Authorities have not yet released a motive for the crime.
