Man Arrested for $113,000 Theft from Austin Bank

A Round Rock man was arrested and accused of stealing $113,000 from an Austin bank. The incident occurred on August 13, 2023, at a bank located at 100 Congress Avenue in downtown Austin. The suspect, identified as a 35-year-old male, entered the bank around 2:30 PM and approached a teller, demanding cash. He did not display a weapon but threatened the teller verbally. The teller complied, handing over $113,000 in cash.

After obtaining the money, the suspect fled the scene on foot. Police arrived quickly and began a search for the suspect. The suspect was apprehended approximately 30 minutes later at a nearby parking lot. No injuries were reported during the incident. The police have not released the name of the suspect pending further investigation. The Austin Police Department is appealing to the public for any additional information that could aid in the ongoing investigation.
