Murder and Theft in Austin Home Invasion

On the night of October 1, 2023, a home invasion in North Austin resulted in a fatality and the theft of valuable items. The incident occurred at a residence in the 600 block of West 35th Street. The suspects, who were armed, forced their way into the home and shot the victim, who was later identified by the Austin Police Department (APD). The victim's identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin. The suspects stole a significant amount of cash and jewelry, valued at over $50,000.

The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. One suspect was later apprehended and charged with murder. The surviving suspect, identified as a 23-year-old male, was arrested and charged with murder. The other suspect remains at large. The APD is appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspect. No injuries were reported among the police officers involved in the investigation.
