Newport Beach Home Invasion Ends in Apparent Suicide

On the evening of October 1, 2023, a home invasion occurred in the 2000 block of East Coast Highway in Newport Beach, California. The incident began when an unknown suspect entered the residence through an unlocked door. The suspect proceeded to tie up the homeowner and a guest before stealing a safe and jewelry, estimated to be worth over $100,000. The suspect then fled the scene.

Following the theft, the homeowner and the guest were found unharmed, but the suspect was later discovered deceased in a nearby alley, with the apparent cause of death being a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Newport Beach Police Department is currently investigating the incident and has not made any arrests. The police have appealed to the public for any information that could aid in their investigation.
